The demand for fresh flowers in the USA has been growing substantially on a yearly basis. With
domestic production insufficient to meet up the demand, the USA remains the largest importer
of fresh flowers. It is estimated that around 67% of all fresh flowers sold globally are imported by
the USA.

Colombia is the largest flower exporter to the U.S., followed by Ecuador. Approximately 61% of all
flowers sold in the U.S. come from Colombia while a third of Ecuador’s yearly production is
exported to the U.S. for Valentine’s Day.
